Home tour part 1!

Anyone who really knows me knows I love to decorate, and even more so, I love to change rooms around and redecorate.  Tony refers to me as a "mad scientist" when it comes to the house.  I am never satisfied with a room.  I always want to add, subtract, and just change!  Since so many people know this, I have received some requests to post pics of our house.  This is part 1 because I only had time to pick up half of the house to get it photo ready.  Part 2 will follow in a few days.  Don't worry, by the time I post part 2 and get some feedback, I will have to post new pics to show the updates I've already made :)

When you walk through our front gate (I'll post pics of the front of the house in part 2), you come into a courtyard.  It's one of my favorite things about our house. I have always wanted a courtyard and we spend quite a bit of time out here (probably because our backyard is still dirt!)
We splurged on a couple of things, and this fireplace was one of them.  It was an option when we were building the house and a few people put them in the backyard in a cabana, but we thought it would be cool in the courtyard so it would force us to spend more time out there.  We were right!  We love it.
Welcome!  This is the entryway in our house, right when you walk through the front door.  The rotunda floor looks like wood, but it's actually tile made to look like wood (MUCH more kid friendly and a LOT cheaper!)
If you walk straight ahead, you go into the formal living room.  We rarely use this room except at Christmas when we have the tree in here.  Then we're in the room every day.  I'd like to say "I read long novels in the library" (that's what I think it looks like), but I'd be lying!
Right side of the "library" :)
Looking at the front door from the living room
This is our dining room.  If you walk into the front door it's to your right.  This is a room I've changed a zillion times.  I'm pretty content with it right now, but that could change on a dime :)  Check out the crown molding...Tony just finished putting it up himself.  I'm lucky I'm married to a very handy guy who likes projects!!
Dining room from the other angle
When you walk in the front door and walk past the dining room and turn right, here is the hallway that leads to everything in our house except our master bedroom and powder room.  We changed out all of the lighting fixtures in the house and put in what we wanted, which I think made a huge difference.
This is a small butlers pantry off the dining room, and off the hallway to the right.  Our grand plan is to eventually close off the walls, put in a big glass and iron door, and make it into a temperature controlled wine room.  Aaaah, dreamy :)
A small niche off the hallway....and another area I am constantly changing.  So many decorations came from our old house, and in an attempt to save money, I've used them all and tried to decorate around them. My style has changed over the years (in my head), but it's hard to do what you want to do without spending a lot of $ and changing everything. Gotta work with what you've got!
Off the hallway to the left is the family room and kitchen. We spend most of our time in these two rooms, and I'm thankful for that because they're two of my favorite rooms in the house.  They just feel 'fresher' than some of the other rooms. Maybe because the colors are a little brighter, the patterns a little more contemporary....I don't know.
Family room from the other angle.  Our kitchen was beyond anything I wanted to tackle today to get it photo ready, so that room will be featured in 'part 2' :)
To wrap up the tour for today...the master bath and bedroom.  This is our master bathroom and another favorite room.  I've always, always, always wanted a chandelier and I finally got one!  This room feels very clean and french to me, which is what I was going for.  My closet is beyond the closed door (it's not the cleanest today), but if you follow this blog you've seen the pics in a previous post :)
This is walking into our bedroom from the hallway (the bathroom is to the left).
This is a sitting area off the bedroom.  We are hanging a chandelier in the ceiling in this little space, but haven't found the 'right one' yet.  I'm surprised Tony was ok with the cowhide rug...but so far he seems fine with it.  Probably because he knows in about 2 weeks something else will be there. Haha
I also like the fact that I was able to get away with a little pink in the room!  Again, hasn't come up in conversation so I'm just going with it!
And the last pic of the tour.  I've never been a big fan of the TV being a focal point in the room, so I decorated around it making it more of a decorative feature instead of a big TV on a wall.  I have to admit that it makes watching TV a little more enjoyable with candles burning on either side of it!  I'm such a girl, seriously.

Ok, stay tuned for part 2.  Thanks for touring!
